10 Bible Verses to Motivate You // January

Here we are, the year is 2022. The New Year can be exciting, uplifting, daunting, overwhelming, all at the same time.

I often feel the pressure to make the perfect list of New Year's resolutions (or "manifestations" as I called mine this year) to motivate myself for the upcoming year. I place so much emphasis on the changes, adjustments, and new things I am going to try so I can continue to grow into my best self. I know I cannot be the only one thinking this way during this time of year.

One of my goals every year, however, is to read more books (something different than the textbooks, chapters books, and picture books I use and share through my curriculum at school). As the New Year began, I started to read Redeeming Your Time: 7 Biblical Principles for Being Purposeful, Present, and Wildly Productive by Jordan Raynor. I also routinely began reading through a new devotional on the YouVersion Bible App titled, "New Year, New Hope." Both contents have provided me with numerous lines from God's Word about being purposeful with the tasks I choose to do and trusting the faith I have in the Lord.

Here are a few bible verses that caught my attention from these readings. Hopefully they catch your attention, too, and motivate you to take a step back and reflect before you dive into all the New Year has in store for you.

"Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is."

"Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the evil one."

"Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God."

"Come and see the works of the LORD, who has done fearsome deeds on earth"

“Everything is lawful for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is lawful for me,” but I will not let myself be dominated by anything."

"So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God."

"Indeed someone may say, “You have faith and I have works.” Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works."

"I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship. Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect."

"The LORD is good to those who trust in him, to the one that seeks him;"

"If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory."

Blessings,
