10 Bible Verses for New Mothers // August

August is here! Our baby girl's due date is at the end of the month, so we still have a little more time to prepare and reflect before she is expected to make her arrival.

At this point in my pregnancy, I feel ready for motherhood. I have always wanted to be a mom, so when my husband and I found out we were expecting, there was some understandable anxiety and worry, but mostly there was joyful anticipation.

Nevertheless, I have had my moments of worry during these last eight months - Will everything be ready? Am I ready to be a mother? Am I going to be good at this? Are we actually ready? The list goes on.

Here are 10 bible verses that I have come across over the months that I would like to share with you that have helped me emotionally and spiritually prepare for becoming a mom. Many of them can be applied to all aspects in life, yet they have helped me find peace and contentment as we wait in anticipation these last four weeks.

1. Romans 12:12

"Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer."

2. Samuel 1:27

"For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him."

3. Isaiah 41:10

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

4. Proverbs 31:28

"Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her."

5. Revelation 21:5

"Behold, I make all things new."

6. Philippians 4:6-7

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

7. Psalm 56:3

"When I am afraid, I put my trust in you."

8. Matthew 5:14-16

"Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give you glory to your Father who is in heaven."

9. 2 Corinthians 12:9

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

10. Matthew 11:28-30

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
